It's summer! After the end of the school year, I think a great part about summer is that so much of it is really just simple fun.
My kids have been asking for a bonfire and s'mores almost every single night after dinner. But since we're already having some days with the temp close to 100, bonfires aren't as tempting! So we got creative about how we can still have that delicious dessert, without melting ourselves: s'mores sticks!
The ingredients are the same as classic s'mores, and actually a bit easier because you can use any chocolate you have on hand (like chocolate chips), because they're going to be melted! And you can use popsicle sticks like we did, or the skinnier lollipop style sticks.
Next, while you melt the chocolate in the microwave, have the kids crush the graham crackers as small as they can - we used a fork, and eventually their fingers, I think. ;)
Put a marshmallow on top of each popsicle stick, making sure it's on firmly:
Then you just swirl the marshmallow in the melted chocolate, followed by a swirl in the graham cracker crumbs:
They were a HUGE hit, and easy enough for even my not-quite-2-year-old to do! I think they'd be a perfect dessert for a campfire party!
